Graduation

Each year, Home Ed sponsors a graduation ceremony for our senior class. This very popular and successful event recognizes the achievement of our Home Ed seniors and their families. Home Ed graduation caps off a year of class fun and hard academic work.

We have had graduates who are National Merit Finalists; who have received Governor's Distinguished Scholarships; and who have been members of the National Honor Society, National Beta Club, and National Society of High School Scholars.

The beauty of homeschooling is that students can move in the direction of their talent. Homeschooling affords students the freedom to excel in their area of interest, as well as the opportunity to give to their home and global communities. In addition to academics, Home Ed graduates have given hundreds of hours to community service.

Many of our graduates will go into college, military service, vocational school or directly into the workforce.

In 2010 we had 65 graduates participate in our Home Ed graduation viewed by 1,200 friends and family. Our guest speaker was local personality, Matt Mosler.

The 2010 Home Ed graduates were recognized for:

  • 21,000 hours of community service donated to their friends, neighbors, and even total strangers.
  • 700 days on mission trips to over thirty different countries (such as Switzerland, Israel, Ukraine, and Japan).
  • Achievements such as achieving Eagle scout, placing first in a student songwriting competition, being awarded National Merit Finalist, and even scoring a 36 on the English section of the ACT.
  • Receiving over $1.5 million in scholarship money.

In the future, some plan to join the Marines and the Air Force. Others are planning to attend college - in various schools around Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kansas, Texas, Ohio, and England.

The Home Ed graduation is a Home Ed event which is open to all Home Ed members - regardless of the sub-group you participate in. However, for many reasons, this is NOT an open graduation. There are multiple details involved in planning this event and several significant deadline dates (ordering diplomas, ordering caps and gowns, graduation program printing deadlines, etc.).
