Home Ed Junior & Senior Prom 2025
The information below provides an overview of what you can generally expect if you choose to participate in the Home Ed Junior/Senior Prom.
Membership – In order to participate in our Junior/Senior Prom, students must be a Home Ed Member and have signed up for the Junior or Senior Class.
Prom Date – We aim to hold prom in the month of April on a Friday or Saturday evening. We do our best to avoid the Friday night before the April ACT Test and we avoid Easter weekend.
Cost – We calculate the overall cost of prom each year (cost to rent the venue, catering, DJ, decorations, photographer, after prom party, etc…). We determine the overall cost and the estimated number of students that will be attending, based on that information we will calculate a per person price for a Prom Ticket. The ticket cost can range between $75-100/ticket. (For Prom 2025 - ticket prices will be $75/ticket)
Plus 1 Guest – Typically we allow each Home Ed Junior/Senior to invite 1 Guest. The guest must be between the ages of 15-20. The Guest ticket must be purchased by the Home Ed Member.
Purchasing Tickets – In February or March we will send out digital Prom invitations to all Junior and Senior Class members. The invitation will include all the details about how to sign up and pay for a prom ticket. Your prom ticket sale is not final until we receive your full payment. Guest tickets must be purchased and paid for by the Home Ed Member. Our desire is that every Home Ed Junior and Senior that want to come will be able to purchase a ticket. However, some venues may have limited capacity so we may have a limited amount of tickets. In that case, we will have a window of time for Seniors and Prom Committee members to buy their tickets first, then we will open it up to the Junior Class.
Student Involvement – We encourage students wanting to help with Prom to sign up for the Junior Student Leadership Team. At the beginning of the school year, we will ask for Junior Students to sign up to serve on the Leadership Team. Students will help make lots of the decisions about prom, decide on a theme, create the digital invitation, as well as help with all the other preparations.
Dress Code and Code of Conduct – For Prom, we do have expectations when it comes to dress and behavior. Our current Dress Code and Code of Conduct are listed below.
Supervision – We have lots of parent chaperones roaming during Prom and the After Party. Note: there will be no supervision or transportation provided between Prom and the After Party. All participants are responsible for getting themselves from Prom to the After Party and then picked up on time when the After Party ends.
After Party – There is usually an After-Party for Prom participants. The After-Party has been held at places like Defy or Main Event in the past. Details about the After Party will be included in the Prom Invitations sent out in February or March.
How many people typically attend Prom each year? The number varies based on class size, but we typically plan for 130-160 participants.
Who coordinates all the Prom details? Prom is planned and put on by the Prom Parent/Student Leadership Team. The committee is led by the Prom Coordinator(s) who are appointed by the Home Ed board of directors.
