Creating a High School Transcript
Developing a Transcript can be a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be. A transcript is simply a record of the courses, grades, and credits your student has completed in high school. That’s it! It does not have to be fancy, you can create a transcript on your own computer or you can work with an organization like Education Alliance to help you create one.
As a homeschooler in the state of Arkansas there are no required courses your student must complete in order for you to issue your student a high school diploma. You, as the parent, are the authority on your student’s high school education, and you get to decide when their high school education is complete and they have earned their High School Diploma.
A quick note about high school courses, we find most parents want a little extra guidance in figuring out how many and what type of credits are generally achieved by high school students. If that’s you, check out these two tracks we put together to help guide you in your high school planning.
Home Ed does not create Transcripts, that is the responsibility of the parent. We also do not require student transcripts to be turned in to be reviewed or checked. Therefore we do not have or keep any documentation to provide Transcript Verification.
We highly recommend working with Education Alliance to create your student’s transcript. The staff are very helpful and can answer all your transcript questions. For a small donation, they can create a Transcript for you and they also keep transcript records. On very rare occasions, universities or employers want to “verify” your student’s transcript. Education Alliance can do that for you. Even though a transcript you create on your computer is “official” and parents can provide “verification” of their student’s transcript, some parents like the backing of Education Alliance to offer that “verification” for them. Education Alliance can also reprint copies of your Transcript if you ever need that in the future.
If you want to navigate creating your own transcripts. There are numerous templates available online to get some ideas or possibly download. There are some key things you want to include on your transcript: Students Name, Date of Birth, Address, Contact Information, Teacher Name, Teacher Contact Info, List of Courses, Grades, Credits, Overall GPA, Total Credits Earned, and Graduation Date.
Below are a couple subject-based transcript samples, you can download and edit yourself. The first one is for more of a traditional transcript (following Arkansas Department of Education Graduation Guidelines). The second one is more of a flexible transcript if you are looking for more freedom in the types of credits your student will earn.
